“The Outside Therein”by Tomory Dodge

Museum Quality! by BCh
Tomory Dodge’s solo show is the seventh at ACME. This is typically the archetype of ideal relationship between an artist and an art Gallery. When the gallery started Tomory’s first solo show in 2004 it was for a series of large paintings with different topics than today’s show, and different color tones but the gesture was there.
Then, in his second solo show, in 2007, we see the transition coming -from representational to abstract- as seen on the 2006 painting below with the palm trees where abstraction appears on the leaves.
Since then, the artist never stopped trying to translate his emotion, his thoughts, his technique through a new abstract language. Abstraction became strong and colorful brush strokes in “levitation”, or a crossover of lines, and all those many possibilities we saw shows after shows. We had the tremendous opportunity to see Dodge growing. And the gallery had to support the ups and downs that are the lifeblood of creation. And the artist had also to support the ups and downs of the gallery.
They supported each other for the best because, here we are, eleven years after the first show at ACME, and we can say that Dodge has reached a Museum quality paintings.
For this 2015 show,Tomory Dodge has put it all together with no compromise: the freedom of the gesture, the right combination of the colors, the addition of paint mixed with and a strong composition to combine the complexity of patterns at its best.
Dodge states, ‘Painting is in many ways a technologically obsolete method of image making. Nearly all images are now made through some sort of systematic matrix’. This observation contributed to his use of the geometric RGB patterns that laid the ground for several of these paintings. Some of the patterns that appear in the paintings are inspired by certain LCD “sub pixel” patterns which make up the vast majority of images that most people spend their days viewing.(read more)
As said above the relationship between Dodge and ACME is the archetype of an ideal relationship between an artist and an art Gallery. Long term relation in the field of creation is necessary and always rewarding.
No doubt Tomory dodge belongs to bAm best selection of Established Artists. Art collectors, hurry up…

Established” means those artists were in their mid career at the time they were chosen. They all have in common an excellent technique and creativity, some great exhibitions plus a huge potential. That category suggests that you should collect them before their price is too high….. bAM
